Action Contre la Faim - Grant for a New Humanitarian Perspective

Action Against Hunger is launching the fourth edition of its Grant for a New Humanitarian Perspective, reaffirming its commitment to supporting visual storytelling that challenges conventions and brings forward more authentic, ethical, and inclusive narratives about humanitarian issues.

This year, the grant will award €5,000 to one project exploring the theme of food systems and nutrition. Open to both completed works and projects currently in development, the grant encourages photographers and visual storytellers to document the complex realities surrounding access to food, nutrition, agriculture, resilience, and the everyday lives of communities affected by humanitarian crises.

All submitted projects must address this year's common theme while relating to Action Against Hunger's areas of expertise. They must also be produced in one of the countries where Action Against Hunger France is active: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, France, Iraq, Jordan, Liberia, Madagascar, Mozambique, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, the Central African Republic, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Sierra Leone, Chad, Ukraine, Yemen, or Zimbabwe.

More than a financial award, the grant represents an opportunity to elevate meaningful stories and foster greater public awareness of humanitarian realities. It celebrates projects that place people—not crises alone—at the center of the narrative, offering nuanced portrayals of the communities Action Against Hunger supports around the world.

The Grant for a New Humanitarian Perspective encourages creators to rethink the way humanitarian stories are told. By moving beyond familiar visual codes and embracing approaches rooted in collaboration, dignity, and mutual respect, it seeks to promote fairer representations and strengthen the dialogue between storytellers, subjects, and audiences. Through these new perspectives, the grant aims to inspire more responsible visual practices and deepen understanding of the people and places behind the headlines.
