Action Against Hunger is proud to announce the launch of the fourth edition of its Grant for a New Humanitarian Perspective, an initiative designed to support visual storytelling that brings fresh, thoughtful, and respectful perspectives to humanitarian issues.
For this new edition, one selected project will receive a €5,000 grant to support the development, completion, or dissemination of work focused on the humanitarian theme of food systems and nutrition. Whether already completed or currently in progress, eligible projects should explore this central topic through a creative and documentary approach that reflects the realities of communities affected by food insecurity and malnutrition.
The theme of food systems and nutrition is shared across all submissions and must be directly connected to Action Against Hunger's fields of expertise. Projects should also be based in one of the countries where Action Against Hunger France operates: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, France, Iraq, Jordan, Liberia, Madagascar, Mozambique, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, the Central African Republic, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Sierra Leone, Chad, Ukraine, Yemen, or Zimbabwe.
Beyond providing financial support to outstanding visual projects, the grant aims to amplify stories that often remain underrepresented. It seeks to increase the visibility of the individuals, families, and communities with whom Action Against Hunger works, highlighting not only the challenges they face but also their resilience, knowledge, and agency.
By encouraging photographers and visual storytellers to challenge traditional humanitarian imagery, the grant promotes more ethical, inclusive, and collaborative ways of documenting humanitarian realities. It supports projects that move beyond stereotypes and simplistic narratives, fostering relationships based on respect, dialogue, and shared understanding. Ultimately, the Grant for a New Humanitarian Perspective seeks to contribute to a more balanced and dignified representation of the people at the heart of humanitarian action.
