Action Contre la Faim - Grant for a New Humanitarian Perspective

This year, Action contre la Faim (Action Against Hunger) is proud to continue its annual creative grant program, awarding a €5,000 grant to support one outstanding project that sheds light on a humanitarian issue aligned with the organisation’s core areas of intervention. The selected work must take place in a country where Action contre la Faim is actively involved, ensuring that the narrative speaks to the realities of those communities we serve and advocate for.

In response to the significant changes and disruptions that have impacted the humanitarian and nonprofit sectors in recent years, we have thoughtfully reimagined the structure and intent of this grant. More than just a continuation of past initiatives, this year's edition represents a renewed commitment: to not only amplify the creative voices of applicants but to elevate the stories, challenges, and dignity of the individuals and communities behind the headlines—those directly affected by conflict, displacement, food insecurity, and climate-related emergencies.

Through this grant, we aim to challenge the status quo of humanitarian representation. We actively seek projects that go beyond stereotypical portrayals, and instead foster more nuanced, respectful, and ethical depictions of vulnerable populations. The goal is to encourage new forms of storytelling that offer a more balanced, collaborative exchange between image-makers and their subjects—stories that empower rather than victimize, that include rather than erase.

This international open call is free to enter and welcomes submissions from photographers, video artists, illustrators, designers, animators, and other visual storytellers. Whether applying individually or as a collective, creators are invited to propose a single project that demonstrates originality, ethical engagement, and creative innovation in both storytelling and production.

A multidisciplinary jury composed of internal experts from Action contre la Faim will convene in September/October 2025 to review submissions and select the winning proposal. The final work will be unveiled in a digital exhibition in October 2026, with potential for a physical presentation, depending on logistical considerations.
