In a rapidly changing humanitarian landscape, the need for responsible, reflective, and innovative storytelling has never been greater. That’s why Action contre la Faim is continuing its commitment to supporting artists who engage with global challenges in meaningful ways. For the 2025 cycle, one exceptional project will be awarded a €5,000 grant, intended to support work that directly addresses a humanitarian theme within a country where the organisation is currently active.
The decision to continue and restructure this grant arises from the shifting context in which NGOs operate today. Political instability, climate disasters, displacement, and systemic inequalities demand not only new responses on the ground, but also a rethinking of how these realities are represented in the public eye. This grant seeks to meet that challenge by supporting creators who can offer new perspectives—projects that serve not only as visual documents but as platforms for critical engagement and ethical storytelling.
This initiative exists not merely to recognize artistic excellence, but to elevate the experiences of those at the heart of humanitarian crises. Through a collaborative ethos and a commitment to justice in representation, we aim to counter reductive portrayals and instead nurture narratives that restore agency, complexity, and humanity to the people and places being depicted.
The international open call is free of charge and welcomes applications from a wide spectrum of visual disciplines. We invite photographers, filmmakers, animators, illustrators, and digital media artists—whether working individually or collectively—to submit a single project proposal. Submissions will be evaluated on their creativity, innovation, and ethical alignment with the values of Action contre la Faim.
A multidisciplinary jury, comprised of internal professionals from the fields of humanitarian work, communication, and the arts, will gather in September/October 2025 to deliberate and select the recipient. The resulting work will be launched publicly in October 2026, primarily in a digital format, with the potential for in-person presentation depending on feasibility and context.
