JUROR | Polly Gaillard will serve as juror for "she." Polly is a seasoned professional with a diverse background in the arts and nonprofit sectors. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from the University of South Carolina and a Master of Fine Arts in Visual Art from Vermont College of Fine Arts. For over a decade, she has taught photography and art courses at universities including Furman, Anderson, and the University of Georgia, among others. Polly’s teaching has taken her students to study-abroad programs in Prague and Italy, enriching their artistic exposure.
As a fine art photographer, Polly has engaged in national portfolio reviews, published an artist book, and showcased her work in solo and group exhibitions across the U.S. Her expertise also extends to serving as a juror for various exhibitions and writing about photography, focusing on the creative journey and the vulnerability involved in presenting art.
Since 2023, Polly has held the position of Program Director at Photolucida, where she oversees the esteemed Critical Mass international photography competition. She is responsible for shaping marketing strategies, building partnerships, curating social media, and coordinating with a broad network of artists, judges, and board members. Her role also includes managing the competition’s budget and organizing donor and fundraising events.
Before Photolucida, Polly was Communications Manager at American Photographic Artists from 2020 to 2024, leading marketing campaigns and digital promotions. Earlier in her career, she managed communications at Artisphere, a Greenville-based arts festival, handling all aspects of publicity and event planning.
Polly is widely recognized for her communication skills, meticulous attention to detail, and adaptability in both solo and team settings. Always eager for new challenges, she is passionate about learning and growth. She resides in Greenville, SC, with her dog, Sadie Jane, who is a constant companion.
