About:

Applications Open for the 2023 New York Portfolio Review.

Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at The City University of New York's , The New York Times' photo department and Photoville are now accepting applications for the free New York Portfolio Review

For the 10th annual New York Portfolio Review, which will take place on March 25 and 26, 2023, we are bringing together 80 talented photographers in addition to 80 top photo editors, publishers, curators, and gallery owners. Due to ongoing concerns regarding the safety of Covid-19, the review this year will be conducted virtually via Zoom.

Anyone over the age of 18 can take part. All kinds of photography will be taken into account.

Thursday, January 19, at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time is the due date.

The review, a staple of photo events in the United States, brings together members of the photographic community to exhibit their work, discuss concepts, assist one another, and have fun. On Sunday, March 19, there will be online workshops and presentations for photographers that will focus on working with curators and photo editors, running a business, negotiating contracts, editing and sequencing one's own photos, and taking care of yourself.

There will be a total of eight private critiques given to each participant—four on Saturday, March 25, and four on Sunday, March 26. You must be able to attend both days in order to participate.

Kindly note: Photographers who were present at the review the previous year are ineligible to apply. Candidates for this year's review who have previously attended can apply, but they must submit new work. No one can apply if they have already attended the review twice.

Participants who have been chosen will submit their top choices for reviewers to consider. We will match as many reviewers as possible with photographers.

Use the application form to submit no more than 20 photos from one or two projects. The files must be JPEGs with a minimum size of 4 megabytes and a longest dimension of 1,500 pixels at 72 dots per inch. Those who have been accepted will be informed by February 25, 2023. Double-check the email address you provide.
