The STERN-Preis grants photo series that masterfully illustrate a major event of the year 2022 or a significant aspect of our social life. The photo series should demonstrate a high level of journalistic understanding and at the same time be aesthetically convincing. Individual images are not accepted; the award is concerned with the journalistic narrative and multifaceted implementation of relevant content. It honors the dedicated work of professional photographers who tell an interesting story with outstanding images.
You can submit photographic projects on global topics, which were published in a journalistic German-language medium (newspaper, magazine, website) in 2022. The project should address a socially relevant topic. The photo series should not only be characterized by a high journalistic standard, but must above all be visually convincing. The STERN-Preis honors dedicated photographic and journalistic work of professional photographers who tell an interesting story with outstanding images.
