About:

Diversity is defined as differences in how one sees the world, how one thinks about the world, how one represents the world; photographically - the analogies, the metaphors and all the tools available to an artist, a photographer. Looking beyond straight documentation, how might photography and its participants respond to the concept of diversity?

Photography, from whatever stylistic approach - documentary, conceptual, fine art, abstract, collage, etc., is an immensely powerful storytelling tool that serves as a common language, bridging geographical, linguistic, and emotional gaps. This exhibition seeks a nuanced view, challenging each photographer, through their unique voice, to offer a glimpse into what might otherwise be unseen, exposing the world to the appreciation and understanding of diversity in all its forms and differences.

PhotoSC seeks images that reflect an array of perspectives, expression and narratives. This exhibition is in search of images that challenge the public’s sensibility and complacency about diversity, at large; images that challenge viewers about contemporary thought; images that challenge viewers to think critically, and images exist outside of the confines of what is commonly perceived or understood in relation to the traditions of the medium of photography.
