Opposing Forces: Energetic Tensions in Printmaking and Photography

Remarque Print Workshop & Gallery invites printmakers and photographers from around the world to submit work for our exhibition, Opposing Forces: Energetic Tensions in Printmaking and Photography  to be held at Remarque Print Workshop & Gallery in Albuquerque, NM from June 9th – July 29th, 2023.

The call “Opposing Forces” is a call for hand-printed photographic imagery using “alternative processes”, such as: photogravure, photopolymer intaglio, cyanotype, gum bichromate, carbon, salt, lumen, anthotype, gumoil, etc; basically, any alternative to straight digital printing. We are looking for images that explore the boundaries between photography and printmaking and that involve some form of hand-work. The purpose of the show is to present works that incorporate elements of printmaking and of photography and that seek to create a synergy or even a tension between the two. We hope to showcase the emerging print world that increasingly discards concern for categorical process but makes free use of techniques from all forms of print and image making.
