About:

The Joseph Miller Center for the Photographic Arts is announcing its 14th Annual Abstract Photography Exhibit. We invite all photographers to submit entries for this prestigious event. We were unable to organize the event in 2024 due to circumstances beyond our control. For 2025, we are back and prepared to hold a virtual exhibit. We have revamped the entry and exhibit spaces and expect to hold an exceptional exhibit.

The preceding exhibits played a major role in the popularity of abstract photography. Not only in the Northern Virginia area but in the larger photographic community. Joseph Miller’s outstanding reputation attracted entries from international and national photographers. We strive to continue that tradition.

New in 2025 is the addition of cash prizes for Special Merit, Best in Show and Peoples’ Choice awards.

The Joseph Miller Center will accept entries for the 14th Annual Joseph Miller Abstract Photography Exhibit on Friday, 27 December 2024. The deadline for submissions will be Monday, 24 March 2025.

Photography is visual writing, usually depicting subjects. Subjects like landscapes, animals, people, architecture, or flowers. Abstracts are non-representational and do not rely upon recognizable subject matter. Abstract photographs consist of colors, tones, shapes, and textures. If the image has an obvious subject, it is not an abstract for the purposes of this exhibit. Artists may create or find abstract photographs.
