About:

As the world continues to navigate unpredictable conditions, as we continue to come in and out of safe spaces, wherever they may be, we need to learn, re-learn and learn again how to be with one another and find our place in the world. The late French philosopher Jean-Luc Nancy, who passed away in August 2021, suggested that in a fragmented world, being and sense are both stimulated by being-in-common, and that being-in-the-world is a condition of existence. Co-existence, in that sense, is a condition of existence. This virtual exhibition will explore what does it mean to be together again at a moment of great uncertainty, and how do ideas of returning, gathering and sharing space and time together may drive creativity. Comeback will present works by LACP members that consider shifts and transformations in how we are present and absent in our worlds, re-discovering ourselves, our communities and creative voices. Format LACP showcases our members’ work with an annual exhibition. The virtual exhibition is open to members’ only. The juror, Samantha Johnston, will select images based on creativity, originality, and quality. Prizes 1st Place winner will receive $1,000; 2nd Place winner will receive a $500 LACP gift card; 3rd Place winner will receive $250 LACP gift card. Honorable Mentions: All exhibiting artists will receive honorable mentions. The Juror Samantha Johnston has been the Executive Director and Curator at the Colorado Photographic Arts Center since 2015.
