About:
Every work of art begins from a point of view—shaped by where one stands, the experiences one carries, and the social and cultural environments that inform one’s perspective.
The exhibition explores how conceptual, physical, emotional, cultural, and political perspectives influence the ways we see and understand the world. It embraces an expanded notion of perspective, ranging from literal depictions of sightlines, vantage points, distance, and scale to abstract and conceptual approaches that reflect memory, identity, cultural background, and inner landscapes. In particular, POV considers how individuals from diverse cultural and historical backgrounds have formed their own perspectives within the shared space of the United States, and how those perspectives are translated into artistic expression.
At its core, POV. invites viewers to see through the eyes of others. Personal viewpoints become shared experiences through art, and difference emerges not as division, but as a point of understanding and connection. By bringing together artists working across a wide range of media and approaches, the exhibition encourages audiences to pause, reflect on their own ways of seeing, and engage with the value of multiple perspectives coexisting within a diverse society. Ultimately, POV affirms empathy, openness, and mutual respect as essential values for navigating an increasingly interconnected world.
POV (Point of View) is presented in commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the United States, reflecting on the nation’s history as a land shaped by immigration and diverse diasporic experiences.
