About:

Do you work with photography, have creative ideas and want to actively shape the Hamburg photography scene?

Then apply for the HEARTBEAT PHOTO project funding ! The Friends of Photography are awarding this funding for the second time in order to strengthen Hamburg's diverse photography scene and at the same time make photography accessible to a wider public. The funding was launched in 2022 with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Media.

We are looking for innovative concept ideas, personal visions and project proposals that support the visibility of the medium of photography in Hamburg. The topic, the question and the media for implementation can be freely chosen. Both purely photographic and interdisciplinary projects that develop and design new formats and ways of presenting photography are welcome.

The call for applications is aimed at all  those involved in  photography who work in Hamburg or want to work there in the future. These can be curators, photographers, gallery owners, students, cultural mediators, people who run museums and off-site venues, or other people. There are no professional restrictions and no age limit.

The applicants selected by the expert jury of the Friends' Circle will receive financial support of a maximum of 5,000 euros and will be supported with publicity measures. This includes the award and presentation of the project as part of the Friends' Circle program as well as announcement in the Friends' Circle media and beyond. Further communication and marketing activities are organized by the grantees themselves as an important pillar of the concept. The project funding is significantly supported by the Authority for Culture and Media.
