About:
The ValenciaPhoto International Photography and Debate Festival offers visual artists and photographers from around the world the opportunity to showcase their work at its 4th edition, which will be held in October 2025 and focuses on:
Expand the limits
Photography as a tool for visual and conceptual exploration that goes beyond the merely representational. Questioning is at the heart of the image.
Photography, beyond its representative function, has become a fundamental tool for visual and conceptual exploration, challenging the traditional structures of art and perception. At the heart of the image is no longer just the faithful representation of reality, but the questioning of its very meaning.
Contemporary photography problematizes the notion of the subject, not only in terms of individual identity but also in terms of its relationship to the environment. It questions the individual's place in society, their role in urban spaces, in the family structure, in consumption, and in entertainment. The image becomes a field of reflection on the models that shape everyday life: cities as scenarios of transformation, families as cultural constructs, and leisure as a system regulated by economic and political dynamics.
This medium also deconstructs artistic language and its history, blurring the boundaries between the documentary and the conceptual, between art and life. Thus, photography not only records the world, but also questions it, destabilizing the certainties that have defined art and its purpose for centuries.
