About:

UNESCO’s lists and designations form a unique global network that protects cultural heritage, promotes sustainability, and fosters peace worldwide. Peru currently has eight Biosphere Reserves and one transboundary Biosphere Reserve, one Global Geopark, and 13 World Heritage Sites, all recognized for their universal value and their close relationship with the communities that inhabit and preserve them. In this sense, the competition seeks to highlight this vital link between territory, culture, and sustainability, promoting a conscious and participatory approach.

“Through this competition, we want to celebrate the richness of UNESCO sites in Peru and recognize those who, with their perspective, help make visible the profound connection between territory, culture, and sustainability,” said Guiomar Alonso Cano, UNESCO Representative in Peru.
