FREE ENTRY / The Space Observatory - Call for Creative Projects on the Melancholy of Space

As long as Space was confused with the sky as an object of contemplation but also of projection of prohibitions, of worry and of desires, it remained a place out of reach of humans. Today, technological and scientific tools have brought it closer to humanity and its familiar concerns, arousing the feeling of an irremediable loss. Artists are invited to take as the theme of their creation this melancholy of Space which goes far beyond the nostalgia of a bygone time. This call is part of the Avant-Poste

creation program which invites artists to take Space as a motif of creation. It is aimed at artists or collectives of artists whose practice falls within the field of visual and plastic arts. The originality of the project, the aesthetic bias, the relevance of the project in relation to the proposed theme as well as the capacity to implement the proposal formulated will be the main criteria considered by the artistic commission. The selected project will be announced in early February 2025. Following its exhibition in 2025, the work will enter the contemporary art collection of the Observatoire de l'Espace and will be deposited at the Abattoirs, Musée – Frac Occitanie Toulouse.
