About:
COPA, in partnership with the S.A.G.E Gallery, is proud to announce “Uchi-Soto,” an exhibition taking place on 9 September – 7 October, 2023, 2023 in Bangkok, Thailand.
Throughout Japanese culture, the terms “uchi” and “soto” have carried a profound significance for centuries, drawing a clear line between “home” and “the outside world.” “Uchi” embodies the concept of “the inside,” encompassing notions of familiarity, comfort, and home. It is a space associated with purity and safety. Within uchi, individuals can freely express their true selves, shielded from the pressures of societal expectations. On the other hand, “soto” represents “the outside,” symbolizing the unknown and the unfamiliar.
