About:
This program aligns with UNESCO's Sustainable Development mission to foster international cooperation and dialogue. We are accepting applications until: Edition I: August 9, 2026. Residency, open studio, and virtual exhibition. 9 weeks (8 meetings + 1 open studio). 2 scientific and/or ancestral guest speakers. Virtual Open Studio. Digital zine. In this program, artists develop a project that aligns with the residency theme and results in a clear and tangible outcome. There are 8 virtual meetings of 2 hours each, held once a week, among all International Residents under the mentorship of a member of the MANGO and/or Moku Art Studio team. The focus is on the concrete production of the project. The meetings include suggested prompts that encourage reflection and the discovery of connections between projects, enhancing the artistic practices of each resident. THEME: Open to artists who envision a more SUSTAINABLE and equitable future. The program welcomes creators who explore the interconnected well-being of our lands, waters, oceans, and communities, along with the environmental, social, cultural, and economic systems that shape daily life. This program recognizes the essential role of culture in advancing sustainable development holistically. It also values artistic perspectives that demonstrate how education can empower individuals with the knowledge, skills, values, and behaviors necessary to care for the environment, the economy, and society. Through this global virtual space, artists can exchange ideas, develop new works, and contribute to more resilient and inclusive communities. During the program, we feature special guests from the sciences, aiming to provide a scientific and/or ancestral perspective where artists can engage in open dialogue and exchange ideas to enhance their perspectives. We conclude the program with an Open Studio and the opening of the virtual exhibition, where the Resident artist opens their virtual workspace and showcases their creative process, allowing virtual visitors to access the artist and their creations.
