FREE ENTRY / Luis Valtueña International Humanitarian Photography Award 2025

Doctors of the World Spain is announcing the 29th edition of the Luis Valtueña International Award, designed to recognize and promote the best works of humanitarian and documentary photography, those that uniquely highlight social problems, injustices, and/or abuses of human rights, as well as the situations that foster or combat them.

By naming this award after photographer and international aid worker Luis Valtueña, we pay tribute to his life and that of three other aid workers from the association, who were murdered in Rwanda (1997) and Bosnia (1995) while carrying out humanitarian work. The commitment and solidarity of each individual are the values that constitute the essence of this competition.
