About:
Kaunas Photography Gallery is pleased to announce an open call for its 2024 residency program. Photographers and artists, curators, critics and art historians who work with photography are invited to apply. A number of residencies are available. These usually last from 1 to 4 weeks and are held within the period 1 April–10 December. The deadline for all applications is 24 March 2024.
Description: We are looking for candidates with an original approach, one which displays an attentiveness and sensitivity to Kaunas’s identity and culture, and its environmental characteristics. We hope to receive some compelling and ambitious proposals. Applicants will be evaluated through criteria including the artistic or professional excellence of their work, the quality of their proposal, and the extent to which the residency will contribute to their progress and be consistent with their creative goals and professional development.
Kaunas Photography Gallery covers travel expenses (up to 300 €) and provides free accommodation in a separate apartment or guest house in Kaunas city center or other location upon request and a small amount of money is given for basic expenses.
Applicants will be evaluated through criteria including the artistic or professional excellence of the applicant’s work, the quality of their proposal and the extent to which the residency will contribute to the artist’s development and be consistent with his/her creative goals and professional development.
Artists are expected to give at least one informal public audio-visual presentation about their work during the residency.
