Rules for submitting exhibition projects for the IMAGINÀRIA 2026 photography festival

The Photography Classroom of the Sociocultural Activities Service of the Universitat Jaume I, the organizing entity of the IMAGINÀRIA photography festival, publishes the rules of the open call for artistic exhibition proposals for the 2026 edition.

I. Object and purpose

  1. Through this call for proposals, IMAGINÀRIA aims to support exhibition projects by ensuring equal opportunities, a plurality of visual languages, project sustainability, and quality proposals. 

  2. The purpose of this call for proposals is to promote, encourage, and disseminate, among other things, artistic creation, the fostering of dialogue, intellectual reflection, social integration and respect for coexistence, the visibility of minority and/or vulnerable groups, exchange and creativity to promote image, the transfer of experiences among members of society, as well as to enrich creative proposals related to image.

  3. The selected proposals must, as a whole, meet the following objectives:

  4. Ensure coherence in the project's discourse.

  5. Achieve technically developed projects.

  6. Promote the development of exhibition proposals based on innovation.

  7. Disseminate local and related authorships to the surrounding territory.

  8. Support artistic production at the provincial, national, and international levels. 

  9. To bring together and collaborate with national and international authors within the framework of globalization.

  10. Explore and disseminate minority development forms in visual projects.

  11. Making the image known in digital culture.

  12. Ensure the plurality of visual languages.

  13. Ensure gender equality

  14. Endorse ethical behavior, sustainability, and social responsibility.

  15. To bring photography closer to society as a key element for understanding current events and its anthropological value, beyond documentary photography.

  16. The projects selected through this call will be exhibited in the selected spaces during the IMAGINÀRIA 2026 edition, scheduled from May 7 to June 20, 2026.
