FREE ENTRY / Gioia Daunia - Open Call for Photography Projects

The places where the photographic project will be developed and where we will stay are Celle di San Vito , Faeto , and Castelluccio Valmaggiore . These towns are in the province of Foggia and located in the geographical area known as Daunia. Celle di San Vito and Faeto are the only Franco-Provençal linguistic island in Puglia. Castelluccio Valmaggiore has a museum called the Museo Valle del Celone. The air , the landscape , the trails , the food , and the spontaneous authenticity of the people inspire a sense of joy in those who experience them.

WHY PHOTOGRAPHY?

We consider photography a necessary medium for measuring and tracking the biological evolution of these places. We believe that photography contains a form of knowledge relevant to these landscapes. The potential geographies, the unspeakable, the repressed of these countries represent a stimulating opportunity for visual research.

And perhaps dream: in the age of images, a reason to make sensible images in places that experience other times and forms of relationships.

The selection of 3 photographers will be entrusted to a jury composed of: Matteo Balduzzi (Mufoco – Museum of Contemporary Photography), Adele Ghirri (Luigi Ghirri Foundation), Maria Giovanna Mancini (Professor of Contemporary Art History – University of Bari) and Antonio Ottomanelli (visual artist and architect).

The three selected photographers will be required to stay in Celle di San Vito, Castelluccio Valmaggiore, and Faeto ( from August 19th to 24th for a minimum of three and a maximum of five days ) to develop a photographic project consisting of three photographs . The works of the winning project will be exhibited in an exhibition.

Gioia Daunia offers a prize of 4,000 euros to the winning project .
