About:

Allora Gallery invites photographers from around the world to submit work for our upcoming online group exhibition, “The Color of Memory.”

Color carries the weight of our experiences—the golden hour of childhood summers, the muted grays of foggy mornings, the vibrant reds of celebration, or the stark absence of color in moments of contemplation. This exhibition explores how color (or its deliberate absence) becomes the language through which we encode, recall, and reimagine our most significant places, moments, and experiences.

We seek photographs that investigate the relationship between chromatic choices and memory formation. Does a saturated sunset make nostalgia more potent? Can black and white images unlock different emotional truths? How do the colors we remember differ from those that were actually there? We welcome both literal explorations—photographs that directly engage with color’s mnemonic power—and conceptual interpretations that use color as a vehicle for deeper emotional archaeology.

What stories do your colors tell? How does your palette shape the viewer’s journey through memory? We’re looking for images that reveal how color becomes both witness and narrator to the human experience.

We are open to submissions from photographers of all levels and backgrounds.
