Fotografia Spazio Aperto - Open Call

Fotografia Spazio Aperto is a Call promoted by Triennale Milano and Gibellina Photoroad / Open air & Site-specific Festival, which arises from the reflection on what it means to re-read and interpret public space with the aim of welcoming temporary site-specific works in a multidisciplinary and inclusive perspective. The Call intends to offer emerging artists the opportunity to experience the possible relationships between their production and public space.

A photographer and an architect, selected by the jury, will spend a period in residence in Gibellina to design an open air and site-specific installation that will be presented during the fourth edition of the Festival (28 July / 30 September 2023).

The residency will be followed by a workshop entitled "Curatorial practices in public space" to be held at the Triennale in Milan, in order to deepen the relationship between photography and architecture in the design of temporary exhibitions, to activate new synergies and the participation of the public and inhabitants.

For the first time in Italy, contemporary photography and architecture interact structurally, to design innovative and immersive multidimensional exhibitions, looking at the public space not as a simple void, but as a place in which to seek deep connections with the territory and stimulate participation.
