About:
Selected photography and video projects will be exhibited at various partner locations in Kuala Lumpur in September 2023 as part of the 2nd EXPOSURE+ PHOTO festival. The 2023 theme A Different Light invites photographers globally to enter recently completed projects or work-in-progress that has been inspired by past stories, memories, and lived experiences. Our selectors want to see the visual stories you have always longed to tell, reimagine or re-tell in a different and new way, approach, format, or narrative : those fantastic tales from childhood or encounters with strangers, the nostalgic family outings, those first infatuations, and emotions. Perhaps you would like to reshoot a past story from a new angle? Approach your street images from a new viewpoint? Change the roles between protagonist and antagonist in your narratives. THE POSSIBILITIES ARE ENDLESS AS YOUR IMAGINATION Photography + Imagination is a powerful tool for telling visual stories; limitless and unbounded by conventions and rules or restrictions. Your stories may be fact, fiction, or somewhere in between. Your projects will be evaluated and selected by a panel of experienced professionals, produced and exhibited in one of our multi-venue partner locations in the city of Kuala Lumpur. ALL GENRES This open call will be extended to international artists for the first time! Projects and video stories may come from all genres - documentary, conceptual, experimental, or fine-art disciplines that have a unique place within the world we live in today. Approximately 20 artists will be selected to represent the theme A Different Light and have their projects exhibited.
