Encontros da Imagem - Photobook Award 2023

The Photobook Award EI 2023 open call is now open as part of the 33rd Encontros da Imagem - International Photography and Visual Arts festival. Editors, publishers, and other publishing industry professionals serve on the jury for this competition.

Encounters da Imagem intends to promote independent authors and their body of work because it is aware that photography books have gained prominence in recent years in the promotion of photography projects through creative storytelling processes. The festival has conducted the Photobook Award 2023, inviting all interested artists to submit an application for the prize along with a photobook, with the goal of becoming a preferred channel for the dissemination and promotion of photobooks since 2014.

Only self-made photobooks, also known as artist books, will be accepted. These books must be original, personal, and made by an independent artist. The award will not be given to books that have already been published or received a commitment to be published from any publisher prior to the submission of the application. In terms of the materials used and the format, a dummy project should be the closest to its final form.
