City of Latina International Photography Competition - Second Edition

The LATINA MATER ETS Association - hereinafter referred to as the Association - announces the second edition of the City of Latina International Photography Competition, open to photographers of any nationality. The Association intends to promote talent and quality, and prizes will be awarded to the works deemed to be the best expression of these two elements. The prize money is worth € 17,500.00 (seventeen thousand five hundred euros). These Regulations dictate the rules of the Competition, as well as the Terms and Conditions for participation by applicants. 1. GENERAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS By participating in the Competition, the candidate authorises the Association to receive registration data. All personal information will be used by the Association in accordance with its Privacy Policy available at www.concorsointernazionalefotografia.it Participation in the Competition implies knowledge and acceptance of these Regulations and the Terms and Conditions available on the site. 2. TIMELINE January 8th, 2024: Competition opening. March 3rd, 2024 (11:00 p.m. - Italian time): registration deadline. 3. RECIPIENTS The Competition is open to photographers with Italian or foreign citizenship, provided they are 18 years of age or older. 4. MODALITIES OF PARTICIPATION Each participant may submit no. 1 (one) photograph and must: - fill out digitally, and in all required parts, the following forms: REGISTRATION (FORM 1), TITLE AND DESCRIPTION OF WORK (FORM 2), ASSUMPTION OF LIABILITY (FORM 3); - pay the registration fee of € 10.00 (ten euros) via bank transfer to: IBAN IT98S0529614700CC0080035939, made out to LATINA MATER ETS and send a proof of payment via WeTransfer to the email address info@concorsointernazionalefotografia.it along with the submitted photograph. Incorrect entry of the required data and non-payment of the fee may result in non-admission to the Competition. The submitted photograph can neither be withdrawn nor replaced. 5. COMPETITION THEME The theme of the second edition of the Competition is “Hopes, Needs, Perspectives”. Current affairs, the events both large and small that we live or witness, narrate more and more often of places and people who, moved by the strength of a hope or the urge of a specific need, progress and act accordingly. As History teaches, it has always been so, perhaps even more so today than in the past. Without the hope of a better tomorrow, of a fulfilled dream, of a passion that becomes concrete, without the need for a home, for a job, for love, for personal fulfilment, humankind would not exist, it would not look up to the sky, it would not stop to admire a view. Perspective, on the other hand, is not just an element of architecture, it is above all a point of view. It is the personality and interpretation that each photographer gives of places and people, of hopes and needs, the search for distant horizons, the curiosity for the dark side of nature, the surprise at the contradictions of life, the complexity of living human relationships. It is, in a single word, reality. “Hopes, Needs, Perspectives”, together, are photographs that can show, communicate, convey emotions, bear witness, denounce, making the difference between a quality image and one that is not. The nominated photo can tell of hope, illustrate a need, show one’s personal perspective, or encapsulate all this in a single image. 6. WORKS REQUIREMENTS Participation in the Competition must meet the following requirements: - the submitted photograph must be submitted in JPEG format (JPEG or JPG extensions) with dimensions not exceeding 4000 px long side; - if selected as a finalist or winner, entrants guarantee that they are able to provide the Association with the original camera file, whether digital (RAW, JPEG, DNG or TIFF) or analog (film or scan) - this request is for validation, proof of ownership of the shot, and verification of any artifacts; - normal color/black and white corrections, tone, contrast, saturation and levels are allowed; - photomontages, renderings, pictorial or graphic effects are not allowed; - aerial images (taken by drone or other means) may be submitted; - purely AI-generated photos are not allowed (it is acceptable to modify and edit the original photograph using AI tools, but it is necessary to clearly indicate how it was applied to the nominated photo and specify the extent of the changes); - at the time of entry, entries that received cash prizes in the first edition of the City of Latina International Photography Competition cannot be re-entered; - photographs with logos, signatures, watermarks, dates, frames or other marks of any kind will not be accepted; - for ease of handling, it is requested to rename the file to be submitted according to the following scheme: Surname-Name-Title (e.g., Doe-Jane-Beauty).
