About:

We are delighted to announce that our Annual Gurwin Photo Contest is underway for 2022! Entries will be accepted through June 15, 2022, in the categories of Landscapes, Travel, People, Pets, Children, Nature, Wildlife, Long Island/New York, Still Life, Action/Sports, Altered/Enhanced and Student. Click on the button below to download an entry form and complete rules/instructions. Please note that we are able to accept prints for judging in our contest, and that all prints received will be used in art therapy and reminiscence programs for residents and adult day program participants throughout the year. Printed photos must be accompanied by a completed contest entry form and payment (click button below for more details.)

We are also so grateful to welcome back our sponsor, The Tiffen Company, leading manufacturer of glass filters and other fine products for digital, still, video, motion pictures and television. Their generous support, now in its 16th year, enables us to continue to enhance the lives of our residents through the exhibition of the breathtaking photography that is shared by amateur photographers in our community through this contest each year.

Entries will be evaluated on the basis of photographic skill and appropriateness for exhibition at the Gurwin Center. Professional photographers will serve as judges, selecting winners based on clarity, composition, subject matter and suitability for display. The judges reserve the right to eliminate photographs which, in their opinion, are not appropriate. All decisions of the judges are final.

Cash prizes are awarded for Best-in-Show and a Runner-Up, and for the best in each category. Awards will be presented at a reception at the Gurwin Center. All winning entries, framed and titled, will be on permanent display at the Center for the enjoyment of our residents, visitors and staff.

On behalf of the 460 residents who call Gurwin “home,” their families, and our staff and volunteers, thank you in advance for sharing your talent with us. Good luck!
