About:
The 6th edition of Young Masters Art Prize returns with an open call for artists from anywhere in the world, working in any media. Young Masters encourages contemporary artists to look back to the art of the past and art history to inspire their work, whether through technique, concept, theme or medium. We are looking for artists who show originality, skill and imagination in response to the art of the past. You can interpret this as widely and creatively as you wish. Up to 15 artists will be shortlisted for the Young Masters Art Prize, and up to 10 ceramicists will be shortlisted for the Young Masters Maylis Grand Ceramics Prize. All shortlisted artists will feature in an exhibition in central London coinciding with Frieze week in October 2023. Prizes for the Young Masters Art Prize include an Overall Award of 1,500 GBP, and two Highly Commended prizes of 500 GBP each, awarded by the Artists Collecting Society. The Young Masters Maylis Grand Ceramics Prize has an Overall Award of 1,000 GBP and a Highly Commended prize of 500 GBP, generously given by James and Maylis Grand. Also, Dr Chris Blatchley awards the Emerging Woman Artist Award of 1,000 GBP, along with mentoring, career advice and inclusion in an upcoming Art Fair with The Cynthia Corbett Gallery. Brownhill Insurance Group also support the People’s Choice Award with a 500 GBP prize.
