Sometimes, upon waking, the mind seems to lag behind the process, and the dream has not yet dissipated. It overlaps with reality, a phenomenon scientifically known as hypnagogia, which is considered a kind of limbo for our consciousness. I used to experience this often. At first, it seemed scary, like hallucinations, but I was always fascinated by everything related to dream states. So I decided to explore it, and, inspired, I created a project called "Between Reality and Dream." Using the technique of double exposure, I tried to recreate the visual images a person experiences in a hypnagogic state. Since my country is at war, and my city is near the enemy's border, subjected to daily shelling, leaving home means risking your life, so I try not to do so unless necessary. Many studios are closing, and more and more people are leaving. In these circumstances, the need arises to create, holding on to what remains familiar, maintaining inner peace and a connection to the past. That's why I found many forgotten paper publications at my parents’ house, gathering dust in the attic, and began using them as one of the layers in my work. I am often overwhelmed by nostalgia, and I love recalling my parents’ youth, those times when these still-new publications were brought home, with the smell of fresh ink filling the hallway. By using them in my work now, I add a piece of my warm memories and a part of myself to them. And although I am not visible in the images, I am still present in each one. By nature, I am a dreamer, and I once heard the phrase, "If you don't like this world, create your own." So, amid the sounds of explosions and enemy rockets outside my window, I create my own world on this side of the window, which serves as a portal between worlds, separating them from each other.
