About:

Gallery 263 invites artists based in the United States to submit work for “A Long Line” that considers familial connections, whether the representation is genealogical or more broadly defined. The juror, Erika b Hess, is host of the “I Like Your Work” podcast, a painter, and a curator. All visual and performance media (2D, 3D, time-based) will be considered. The examination of family and lineage in visual art is a longstanding tradition. Today, descriptions of family can communicate larger social issues—including socioeconomic tensions, evolving gender roles, and shifting definitions of family and intergenerational relationships. Gallery 263 invites artists based in the United States to submit work for A Long Line that considers familial connections, whether the representation is genealogical or more broadly defined.
