FrstHand - THE AFRICAN DROUGHT: SUFFERING AND SCARCITY

As the world turns its attention to the stars at the FIFA World Cup in Qatar, not 2000km away, the people of East Africa are suffering. Famine is on the horizon as a water crisis is devastating lives in Djibouti, Ethiopia, Kenya and Somalia. Over 20 million people including 10 million children need water and food assistance. Below average rainfall in the Horn of Africa has created the worst climate-related emergencies in recent history. Families are forced to leave their homes to find sources of food and water which puts their health, safety and education at risk.
