About:
The Center for Iberian Studies (CEI) remains committed to strengthening the cultural and scientific axis organized by Coimbra, Guarda, and Salamanca and, through active involvement in territorial cooperation, is committed to low-density territories, particularly the most peripheral and border areas. Based on these references and the importance of images in contemporary societies, the Transversalidades: Photography Without Borders project uses photography as a means to promote the inclusion of territories and break with the exclusionary processes to which
vast areas of the planet are subjected by the media.
Pursuing objectives that coincide with those guiding the CEI's work, this competition aims to contribute to overcoming artificial boundaries that are being imposed between communities, peoples, and cultures. Therefore, the call for entries that portray spaces both within and beyond borders, scattered across various continents, aims, by documenting the diversity of territories, societies, and cultures, to read and interpret the multiplicity of natural, economic, social, and cultural landscapes found across the vast geographies of the planet.
