Research shows that effective communication is vital for mobilizing climate action, highlighting our need for creative methods to convey the urgency of the crisis, inspire hope, and engage diverse audiences. To tackle this challenge, we at the Human Impacts Institute (HII) launched our Creative Climate Awards (CCA), an annual festival designed to ignite climate action through artistic public engagement. The CCAs foster curiosity and spark conversations about pressing climate issues through a range of activities, including exhibits, salons, workshops, and master classes.

Since its inception, the CCAs have showcased over 250 artists from 51 countries through more than 60 public art exhibits at iconic NYC locations, such as Times Square and the Manhattan Bridge. We prioritize the inclusion of BIPOC artists and those who may lack access to mainstream venues, celebrating local and international talent while creating a platform for underrepresented voices. By transforming art into a powerful medium for environmental advocacy, the Creative Climate Awards inspire our communities to take action for a sustainable future.
