About:
We invite LGBTQIA+ lens-based artists to explore queer life, identity, and forms of community.
The arts have long provided space for self-expression and for exploring identity in ways that may not be possible in other contexts. For many queer artists, image-making has also been a way to share lived experience, challenge social norms, and connect with others.
We welcome work that engages with self-representation, chosen family, intimacy, and the relationship between public and private space. Submissions may consider visibility and absence, safety and risk, or the different conditions that shape how queer identities are expressed across cultural and geographic contexts.
Selected works will be presented in an online exhibition on Der Greif’s homepage for one month.
Selected artists will also be invited to take part in small-group online critique sessions as part of Der Greif’s Face-to-Face program. These sessions provide a space for exchange, feedback, and discussion around ongoing work.
This call invites artists to consider how visual language can be leveraged to describe, question, or reframe ideas around sexuality.
