GUIDO KLUMPE

Visually impaired yet internationally acclaimed, Guido Klumpe from Hanover captures the hidden beauty and oddities of urban spaces. His work blends street photography with abstract architecture, focusing on minimalist compositions that challenge the viewer’s perception. Klumpe is drawn to functional architecture in places like train stations and shopping centers, where he finds unique aesthetics in the mundane.

Klumpe's minimalist approach is fundamental, reducing images to their essence to explore the transition from three-dimensional spaces to two-dimensional abstractions. Despite his visual impairment, Klumpe transforms the chaos of the city into art, influenced by figures like Saul Leiter and Piet Mondrian. His photography blurs the line between art and architecture, often feeling more like painting than photography.
